Students in Milan, Italy – 2016

In the video above, CCC Business Administration student, Martha Gonzalez, discussed why she was interested in participating in the short-term study abroad experience.

Two Central Community College students participated in a University of Nebraska-Kearney short-term, study abroad experience to Milan, Italy in June 2016.

The invitation for non-UNK students to participate stemmed from a scholarship that was made available to students who attended a college within Rotary’s District 5630 (central and western Nebraska).

The three-week experience included learning about the Italian language, Milan fashion and design, economics and creative industries as well as field trips to museums, exhibition centers, and cultural events.

The goal of the study abroad class was to help the students cultivate global awareness of community needs, especially in Rotary’s Six Areas of Focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.
